Duke University Global Education Office for Undergraduates

Duke Study in China

Duke Study in China (DSIC) was inaugurated in 1982. It is one of the longest-running credit-granting programs in China administered by an American university.

The semester program is a combined language and culture program, hosted at Yunnan Normal University in Kunming. It offers four credits for one semester of study. Two credits are for the intensive Chinese language courses, offered from levels 2 - 5. The other two credits are for area studies courses (both taught in English): a culture and history course, and a Directed Research Study course. Please see the 'Courses' webpage for more information about these courses and their crosslistings.

Duke Study in China also operates a summer program in Beijing, based at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). For more information about the Duke in China summer program, please visit the summer program webpage.
