SPANISH 390A-2 (112A-01): LITERATURE AND THE VISUAL ARTS IN SPAIN FL, CZ

Literature is just one of the many genres and media that artists have used to capture the on-going transformations in our ways of looking at reality. The dialogue between literature, painting, and film will be the main focus of this course. The poems and stories under study will often be correlated with works in the visual arts that will be discussed in class, and will be contextualized in their historical, social, and aesthetic specificity, including the rise of avant-garde experimentation in the works of Juan Gris, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dalí. Taught by Professor Prof. José María Rodríguez García. Crosslisted with ICS 112A. One course credit.

SPANISH 441A (141 - 01) Spain: Cultural Studies CCI, CZ, FL, IAA  Intensive course. The main objective of this course is to give an introductory overview of Spanish Contemporary Culture, exploring some key texts and cultural documents. The class will be conducted entirely in Spanish and will therefore also work to improve student listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Taught by Professor Marcos Canteli Vigón. One course credit.
