Dear Global Education Office:

This past summer I had an amazing time in Spain with the Duke in Spain program. Besides learning more about Spanish literature, art, and history in my classes that I took, I had an experience of a lifetime. While staying with a host family in Madrid, I got to speak Spanish everyday and live the life of a Madrileño. My Spanish improved immensely, which will help me in my Spanish classes. We also were able to visit Toledo, Segovia and Barcelona. Several other Duke students and I also visited Lisbon, Portugal.

There were too many highlights of my trip to pick one, but I loved going to the theater to see a flamenco performance, going to the soccer game, visiting the Prado museum, and running and tanning in the Parque del Retiro. Another interesting event was the bullfight. In this picture, two Duke students and I (I'm on the far right) are outside the Plaza de Toros where they hold the bullfights.

I would definitely return to Spain in a heartbeat and would encourage everyone to sign up for a study abroad program.
